Sascha Lense and Matthias Kaltenbach revealed as part of Danny Rohl’s Rangers coaching staff

Danny Rohl will start his reign as Rangers manager with a visit to Norwegian club Brann in the Europa League on Thursday.

Rohl confirmed the make-up of his backroom team yesterday without naming them. Sky Sports cameras have captured two new faces assisting him while Rangers trained today.

Sascha Lense and Matthias Kaltenbach have been spotted at the Rangers training centre after the new boss revealed that he would appoint two assistant coaches from Germany.

Lense worked as a sports psychologist under interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick in December 2021 before taking up the same role at Schalke, Dynamo Dresden and RB Leipzig.

The 50-year-old worked with Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday as performance manager before leaving with him in the summer.

Kaltenbach worked under Alfred Schreuder at Ajax as assistant manager in 2022-23 and was assistant to Julian Nagelsmann during his time at Hoffenheim.

Rohl claimed he will have an assistant coach off the pitch and another on the pitch. Lense will assist him off the pitch while Kaltenbach will be beside him in the dugout.

Rangers goalkeeping coach Sal Bibbo, who Russell Martin appointed, will remain in place after working as Rohl’s goalkeeping coach at Sheffield Wednesday.

The German plans to add a former Rangers player to his coaching staff, but the identity of who he has chosen remains unknown.

A win in Norway tomorrow will be an excellent start for Rohl as he looks to hit the ground running.
