Unai Emery reveals what he did to pull Aston Villa out of poor form

Aston Villa failed to win any of their first six games of the 2025/26 season across all competitions.

However, they have since turned things around and are on a remarkable winning streak that they will hope to continue this weekend.

Vila have steadily built momentum, winning six of their last seven games. Manager Unai Emery has revealed how he has steadied the ship.

Emery said (via Villa’s official website): “We increased our demands in the training sessions and in meetings.

“I was worried one month ago about how we were performing because it was a bad, bad moment, and our performances were poor.

“I was so worried. I communicated my concerns to the players and attempted to find solutions. We were working hard to recover from the poor form we had.

“Progressively, we are getting better. Now is the moment we have one problem, if we are relaxing, because we are performing better, we can get confused.

“My worry now is to try to be very demanding and keep being consistent like we did in the last matches we played.

“Tomorrow, if we want to be at the level Liverpool have, we have to be so, so demanding, clinical and focused in everything we have to do

Villa have a fantastic opportunity to show just how far they’ve come.

Facing a Liverpool side that has lost six of their last seven matches, Emery’s men will fancy their chances of extending their red-hot run.

If they replicate the intensity and tactical discipline they showed against Manchester City, they could punish Liverpool.

With momentum firmly on their side, a victory could propel Villa further up the table into one of the European slots.
