Salah left out of Liverpool squad for Inter clash after explosive comments

Liverpool head into one of their most delicate Champions League ties of the season without their talisman.

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Mohamed Salah has been omitted from the squad for Tuesday’s trip to Inter Milan.

The decision follows his stunning public criticism of the club and a growing rift with Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

Once an automatic name on the teamsheet, Salah has been on the bench in Liverpool’s last three matches.

He made a brief substitute appearance in a home draw with Sunderland, but remained unused in subsequent games.

His absence from the squad for the San Siro encounter marks a significant escalation in an already tense situation.

Matters came to a head following an explosive interview at the weekend in which Salah claimed he had been ‘thrown under the bus’. He also claimed his relationship with Slot had broken down.

Although he took part in Monday’s training session, BBC sources insist there has been no attempt to walk back those comments.

Salah reportedly no longer sees a future at the Merseyside club under Slot, a remarkable turnaround just eight months after signing a lucrative new contract.

He spearheaded Liverpool to the title before signing that deal, claiming the Golden Boot with 29 goals.

However, frustration has reportedly grown over a new tactical approach shaped by Liverpool’s transfer dealings, one Salah feels does not suit his game.

He is also irritated by what he perceives as a media-led narrative placing blame for the team’s struggles at his door.
