Aston Villa have signed Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz on loan, according to the Telegraph journalist Jason Burt.
Villa manager Unai Emery wanted to bring the Brazilian back to the club, and he has now got his wish.
The Villans reportedly want two midfielders – a number eight and a number six – before the transfer deadline next Monday.
Villa have pipped Chelsea and Spanish clubs in the race to sign Luiz, and an official announcement could be made in the coming hours.
The Midlands club will be without Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans after he was sidelined for around eight weeks with an ankle injury he sustained against Newcastle United on Sunday.
Villa are also currently without Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn and Ross Barkley, and adding Luiz to their midfield is huge for Emery.
The Brazilian left Villa Park for Juventus in 2024, but struggled to get in the squad before he was loaned to Nottingham Forest.
However, his return to the Premier League has not gone to plan, and he has now left the City Ground ahead of transfer deadline day.
Villa were keen to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid earlier this month, but he snubbed them to join Tottenham Hotspur instead.
The Midlands club will also announce the signing of Besiktas striker Tammy Abraham for €21 million this week. Defender Yasin Ozcan will be moving in the opposite direction.
Villa have also signed Brazilian forward Alysson from Gremio in a £10m deal, while Leon Bailey has been recalled from his loan at AS Roma.
Donyell Malen has joined the Serie A club on loan with an obligation to buy for £21.6m, and more deals could be lined up for the coming days.
