Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe lead European Golden Boot race

The European Golden Boot race is heating up with the world’s best marksmen battling it out for the coveted prize.

With the season entering its final stretch, strikers from the top divisions will be eager to get their noses in front.

Read on as we analyse how the European Golden Boot race is progressing.

Vedat Muriqi (30 points)

Real Mallorca striker Vedat Muriqi is enjoying a renaissance in Spain following a difficult time in Italy. He is having his best season yet, bagging 15 goals in 22 appearances.

The Kosovo legend has scored over half of Mallorca’s league goals this term, hoping to keep them in the top flight for another season.

Muriqi has already scored more goals this season than he did in his last two campaigns, playing a talismanic role for the Palma-based club in search of inspiration to stave off relegation.

With six goals in his last six outings, Muriqi is not slowing down, aiming to give the more prominent names on this list a run for their money.

Igor Thiago (34 points)

Brentford signed Igor Thiago in 2024, but the Brazilian spent most of his first season in England sidelined. He is making up for lost time.

The 24-year-old has bounced back spectacularly this season with 17 Premier League goals to keep the Bees in the top half of the table despite many backing them to get relegated.

Thiago is a physically imposing striker with excellent link-up play. After snapping his mini goal drought, he will hope to kick on for the final stretch.

European clubs will be looking his way this summer.

Erling Braut Haaland (42 points)

Manchester City’s goalscoring machine Erling Braut Haaland is at it again this season, having scored 21 goals to keep their Premier League title ambitions alive.

His latest strike was a crucial winner that earned the Cityzens a massive win over Liverpool to keep pace with league leaders Arsenal.

Haaland is a sure bet for the Premier League Golden Boot, but he will be eyeing the European prize, which is well within reach if he goes on one of his renowned streaks.

The 2023 Golden Boot winner will be desperate to steer City above Arsenal on the league table. The Norwegian’s goals can catalyse an unforgettable comeback.

Kylian Mbappe (46 points)

Real Madrid ace Kylian Mbappe will be eager to retain his crown and has picked up from where he left off last term, with 23 goals already.

The 2025 Golden Boot winner is on course to beat the 31 goals he scored to clinch the prize last season.

The Frenchman is capable of scoring from just about anywhere in the box.

Mbappe’s goals have kept Madrid within touching distance of arch-rivals Barcelona, and they will be hoping for a slip-up they can capitalise on.

Harry Kane (48 points)

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane is having an unforgettable season. Fresh off helping Die Rekordmeister reclaim the Meisterschale last term, he is hoping to make it back-to-back titles.

Kane is playing a decisive role with 24 goals for the Bavarian side, keeping them six points clear of Borussia Dortmund and TSG Hoffenheim at the summit.

The last time Kane failed to score in successive games was in early November. In the 12 games since then, he has registered 12 goals, scoring in all but three games in that run.

Kane will be looking to fend off competition from Haaland and Mbappe for the Golden Boot, and there is every chance of him emerging victorious.
