Manchester United have identified Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali as a potential replacement for Casemiro this summer, according to the Telegraph.
The Brazilian is leaving the club at the end of the season, and the Red Devils are looking to lure him to Old Trafford.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is desperate to hold on to Tonali, but his agent revealed a few days ago that he could look to leave for a Champions League club ahead of next season.
The Magpies would want at least £100 million for the 25-year-old, and Man United are likely to spend big on a midfielder this summer.
A move for Tonali could be on the cards, but the Red Devils also have Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson on their radar.
The Newcastle star is also being monitored by Manchester City and was recently linked with a move to Arsenal.
However, a move to Man United could be more appealing to Tonali as there is a chance for him to walk straight into their starting XI after Casemiro moves on.
The Red Devils are fourth in the Premier League table under interim manager Michael Carrick, and they will be playing in the Champions League next season if they sustain their current momentum.
Man United have won their last four league games and will fancy their chances in upcoming fixtures against West Ham United, Everton and Crystal Palace.
They travel to face Newcastle afterwards, and Tonali will be looking to impress. The Magpies are 12th in the league table after 25 games, 11 points behind the Red Devils.
