PCB and ICC officials meet in Lahore over Pakistan’s boycott of India match in T20 World Cup 2026

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has held a meeting with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Lahore over Pakistan’s decision to boycott the T20 World Cup 2026 match with India.

The PCB confirmed chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with the ICC Deputy Chair Imran Khawaja on Sunday at Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam was also present in the meeting.

According to Dawn, the outcome of the meeting will likely be announced once the Government of Pakistan has endorsed it.

Bangladesh withdrew from the World Cup in India, citing security concerns, after the ICC rejected their request to move their games to Sri Lanka.

Pakistan then chose to boycott the February 15 match against India to express solidarity with Bangladesh.

The Green Shirts will lose two points if they maintain their stance, and also suffer a significant blow to their net run rate.

Pakistan made a winning start to their World Cup campaign, beating Netherlands by three wickets at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.

The Salman Ali Agha-led side were on course for a comfortable win after an explosive start from Saim Ayub.

But a middle-order collapse turned the game on its head, as Netherlands’ 148-run target looked enough to secure a sensational victory.

However, Faheem Ashraf’s late heroics saved Pakistan. They return to action against the United States in Colombo on Tuesday.
