Pakistan star Babar Azam has shared a video message ahead of the highly-anticipated T20 World Cup 2026 match against India.
The blockbuster clash was in jeopardy after Pakistan decided to boycott the fixture in solidarity with Bangladesh, who were replaced by Scotland after refusing to travel to India.
But to the delight of cricket supporters, the Green Shirts reversed their boycott after holding talks with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Lahore.
The two Asian rivals are now set to meet on Sunday at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Pakistan star Babar has shared a video message ahead of the high-stakes game, emphasising the importance of staying calm and focused under pressure against India.
He said: “These games operate on a completely different level, and expectations from players are always high.
“From my experience in many such matches, I’ve learned that the more relaxed and concentrated you remain, focusing on the game rather than outside distractions, the better your performance will be.”
Babar’s recent form has been a source of debate. He scored a scratchy 15 off 18 in Pakistan’s opening match against Netherlands.
Former Australian great Ricky Ponting wasn’t impressed with his performance and suggested the Green Shirts should consider returning him to his preferred number three position.
However, Babar bounced back with an impressive display in Tuesday’s 32-run victory over the United States.
The 31-year-old hit a blistering 46 off 32 with the help of four boundaries and a sixer.
Pakistan will once again rely on Babar to perform well against India, as he is the most experienced and gifted player in the team.
The right-handed batter is highly rated for his excellent technique, signature cover drives and composure under pressure.
