T20 World Cup 2026: Can Pakistan still qualify for Super Eights after crushing defeat against India?

Pakistan’s poor recent against India continued as they suffered a humiliating 61-run defeat in Sunday’s T20 World Cup match

The Men in Blue posted a formidable 175 total after being put on to bat first, with Ishan Kishan smashing 77 off 40.

In reply, the whole Pakistani team perished for 114, with Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha and Babar Azam all failing to reach double figures.

Only Usman Khan made a valiant effort, scoring 44 with the help of six boundaries.

Despite the crushing defeat, the Green Shirts still control their own destiny.

The Salman Agha-led side will qualify for the Super Eights if they beat Namibia in their final group game on Wednesday.

The United States have already completed their four matches and currently sit second in Group A with four points.

Pakistan, who won their opening two matches against the Netherlands and US, will reach six points if they win against Namibia.

A defeat against the tournament minnows would be disastrous for the Cornered Tigers.

It would leave them tied on four points with the US and qualification for the Super Eights would then be determined by Net Run Rate (NRR).

The heavy loss to India severely damaged the Green Shirts’ NRR, which fell from +0.932 to -0.403.

Pakistan could make changes to the team for the final group game against Namibia.

Babar, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan produced disappointing performances against India, and could be replaced by youngsters
