Everton are preparing to reward manager David Moyes with a new contract, according to the Guardian.
They were drifting dangerously close to relegation when Moyes returned in January last year, but are now within touching distance of a European qualification slot.
Everton’s hierarchy, led by the Friedkin Group, initially viewed Moyes as a stabilising figure. However, he has masterminded a serious push up the league table.
They have developed structure, resilience and a clearer attacking identity, with experienced additions fitting seamlessly into Moyes’ system.
There is now growing confidence within the club that Moyes will extend his stay beyond his current deal, with formal talks expected at the end of the season.
Everton are also prepared to hand him greater influence over recruitment, a move that reflects both trust and recognition of how he has rebuilt the squad.
Tying Moyes down is only part of the job for Everton. The next phase is far more demanding.
If they are serious about sustaining this upward curve, they must back Moyes decisively in the transfer market.
The Toffees need a reliable striker to convert their progress into goals, as well as another marquee attacker capable of shifting games in tight moments.
The midfield also requires reinforcement, particularly a defensive presence who can anchor transitions and protect the back line.
Equally important are upgrades at both full-back areas. The Toffees desperately need more quality in those positions.
Everton have momentum, but they risk stalling without decisive investment. This summer will define whether Everton have truly arrived.
