Misbah-ul-Haq, Sarfaraz Ahmed join Pakistan selection committee after Aleem Dar’s resignation

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced a new men’s selection committee.

The PCB has published its updated selection panel, which includes Aaqib Javed, Misbah-ul-Haq, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq.

Misbah led the Green Shirts as a captain for many years, with his record in test matches particularly impressive. He later served as a head coach.

Sarfaraz is one of the most famous names in cricket, having led his country to the ICC Champions Trophy success in 2017.

They will look to revive Pakistan’s fortunes following Aleem Dar’s resignation as a committee member.

Dar reportedly stepped down from his role after feeling increasingly marginalised during selection meetings.

The multiple-time ICC Umpire of the Year had strongly opposed the inclusion of Babar Azam, Shadab Khan and Usman Khan for the T20 World Cup.

Dar also advocated for selecting Mohammad Rizwan, believing the wicketkeeper-batsman would be ideal for the crucial number six batting position.

Azam and the two Khans have been dropped for the upcoming Bangladesh series after poor performances in the T20 World Cup.

Rizwan has returned to the squad, while Shaheen Shah Afridi has been retained as the team’s ODI captain.

Salman Ali Agha, Faheem Ashraf and Abrar Ahmed have also kept their places in the squad.

Pakistan will play their first ODI match against Bangladesh on March 11 at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

The following two games are scheduled on March 13 and 15.
