Pakistani star Sahibzada Farhan is ready to dethrone his Indian counterpart Abhishek Sharma as the former has climbed to second in the latest ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings.
Abhishek still holds the number one spot with 874 rating points, but Farhan is close behind on 848.
England’s Phil Salt is third in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings, while India’s Ishan Kishan and Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka are occupying the fourth and fifth places respectively.
Abhishek is widely regarded as one of the world’s gifted players. He is highly rated for his aggressive batting style and excellent technique.
However, his performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup have been disappointing. The 25-year-old has scored three ducks and only one half-century in six innings.
Pakistan were eliminated from the tournament after failing to beat Sri Lanka by a heavy margin last weekend.
Farhan was a bright spot for the 2009 champions, as he impressed with some excellent performances.
The right-hander scored 383 in six innings, which was 40 percent of the runs scored by Pakistan in the entire tournament.
Farhan struck an unbeaten century against Namibia and followed that up with another hundred in Saturday’s win over Sri Lanka.
That made him the first-ever batsman in the history of the T20 World Cup to score two centuries in the same edition.
