Tottenham Hotspur players excited about the idea of Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival

Tottenham Hotspur players are excited about the idea of Roberto De Zerbi’s appointment, according to The Times.

The club are in talks to finalise the Italian’s appointment after parting ways with Igor Tudor on Sunday.

Spurs have also been in talks with his backroom staff as both parties move closer to an agreement, and it appears the players cannot wait to work with De Zerbi.

Several Spurs players were out for dinner together on Monday night, and the mood was one of excitement as they spoke about working under the former Marseille boss.

Tudor’s confrontational approach did not go down well with most of them, and Tottenham had to appoint Bruno Saltor to his coaching staff to try to bring the squad closer together.

Saltor has a reputation for being a popular character in his previous jobs and has been tasked with leading training until a new manager takes over.

Tudor was tearing into Spurs stars just a few days into his reign.

Rather than console his players who lingered on the pitch after the 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in his first game last month, he headed straight down the tunnel after shaking hands with Mikel Arteta.

He shouted towards Tottenham defenders Radu Dragusin and Micky van de Ven to drag the back three higher up the pitch during the game and was just as vocal in his first training sessions.

However, his aggressive style did not yield much-needed results, as Tottenham only won one of the seven games he oversaw.

De Zerbi will be desperate to hit the ground running, and it appears he will have the players on his side.

Players who have played under De Zerbi have been impressed by his training sessions.

His tactics are revered in coaching circles, and Tottenham will hope the Italian can help turn their fortunes around on the pitch as they eye safety.
