Arsenal come up with new training drill ahead of Sporting CP game

Arsenal are back in Champions League action tomorrow, and manager Mikel Arteta has been taking his men through a new training drill.

The Gunners travel to Portugal to take on Sporting CP, and they could do with a win in the first leg of the quarter-final tie.

Arsenal lost their last two games – the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City and the FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton on Saturday.

They will be desperate to get a good result on Tuesday, and Arteta has been working on a new drill.

Arsenal stars were seen holding a pen together and had to prevent it from dropping while controlling the ball with their feet during the drill.

They have also been handed a triple injury boost after Leandro Trossard, Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes were all back in training.

However, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Eberechi Eze were not part of the session, and it is unknown if they will be available for selection tomorrow.

Sporting have secured some impressive results in the Champions League this term.

They secured a 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in January and a 5-0 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the second leg of their round-of-16 tie.

Arsenal will have to do better against them than they did in their last two games, and a good result tomorrow will be huge ahead of the second leg at the Emirates Stadium next Wednesday.

The Gunners were dreaming of a quadruple, but are now competing for two trophies and will hope to win both.

They remain nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table and victories in their next two fixtures – against Bournemouth and Manchester City – could wrap up the title.
