Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon is a wanted man this summer, with a few clubs looking to prise him away from St James Park.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Newcastle ace is a target for Bayern Munich. They want competition for Luis Diaz and are seriously considering a move.
While the Bavarians are yet to make contact with the Magpies, Gordon is aware of the interest. Talks have already taken place.
Gordon’s 2025/26 season with Newcastle has been a mixed bag. His tally of six goals and two assists in 26 Premier League appearances is disappointing, but he stepped up big time in the Champions League.
The 25-year-old has bagged 10 goals and two assists in 12 Champions League outings.
Newcastle will fight to keep the England international, but their hands may be tied if he pushes for the exit door as Alexander Isak did last summer.
Newcastle should consider Said El Mala to replace Gordon
If Newcastle need a replacement for Gordon, they should look no further than Koln’s Said El Mala. He is already on their radar.
The 19-year-old is enjoying a brilliant Bundesliga campaign, recording 11 goals and three assists in 29 appearances.
While he has missed 13 big chances this term, it also shows his ability to get into quality shooting positions.
Newcastle should be doing everything to sign him. He has the ideal profile to replace Gordon in the first team.
Koln reportedly wants around €45 million to sanction a sale, and Newcastle should be able to pay that sum if they get big money for Gordon.
