James Tavernier decides to leave Rangers at the end of the season

Rangers defender James Tavernier has decided to leave the club at the end of the season, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 34-year-old has been a key player for Rangers manager Danny Rohl this term, bagging 14 goals in 49 appearances.

Tavernier joined Rangers in 2015 and has been an important star player for them. He helped them secure promotion from the Scottish Championship at the end of his debut season.

He has made 562 appearances for the Bears, tallying 144 goals and 148 assists. Rangers fans will miss him, given his years of service and dedication.

The veteran defender will now hope to leave Ibrox with another Premiership title after previously winning it in 2020-21.

Rangers are currently second in the league table with five games remaining, just one point behind leaders Hearts.

They host Motherwell on Sunday before a trip to Hearts on May 4. They play Celtic next on May 10 at Parkhead before hosting Hibernian three days later.

A trip to Falkirk on May 16 is their last game of the league campaign, and it could be the biggest match of the season if the title race goes down to the wire.

Tavernier will put in his best in his remaining games as a Rangers player, and his teammates must step up and get the job done.
