Arsenal have been handed a timely injury boost ahead of their next game after Eberechi Eze was spotted in training this morning.
Eze was withdrawn against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, and manager Mikel Arteta was sweating on his fitness.
However, Eze is expected to feature when Arsenal take on Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie on Wednesday.
Kai Havertz missed training after he was also taken off the Magpies, and it is unclear whether he will be available for the Gunners’ next Premier League game at home against Fulham on Saturday.
Jurrien Timber was also not spotted in the Arsenal opening training session this morning and is unlikely to feature against Atletico.
The Gunners are aiming to play in the final of the Champions League for the first time since 2006, and a win in Spain will be huge ahead of next Tuesday’s return leg.
Gabriel Martinelli also trained with the squad today after he was spotted holding his hamstring after the game on Saturday.
Riccardo Calafiori is available to feature against the La Liga club after returning to training this morning.
The Italian played the entire 90 minutes against Sporting CP in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on April 7, but has not featured since.
The Gunners need everyone available heading into their most important weeks of the season, and Arteta will hope those injured players can return sooner rather than later.
The win over Newcastle put them back at the top of the league table, but they have played one more game than Manchester City.
They need to win their remaining four league games to give themselves a real chance of winning the title.
