However, Man United may need to wait for Madrid’s midfield transfer decisions before getting a green light to sign Tchouameni.
The La Liga club are known admirers of Manchester City midfielder Rodri, and a move for him could pave the way for the Frenchman to leave.
Madrid may also need to raise transfer funds, and they are also willing to listen to offers for Eduardo Camavinga.
United want to sign at least two midfielders in the summer, and Tchouameni has caught their eye.
The 26-year-old has two more years on his contract, and this summer could be the best time for him to be sold if a contract extension is not on the cards.
