Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is personally leading the drive to sign Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers, according to talkSPORT.
The Gunners are preparing for next season’s title defence, and Arteta wants to lure the England international away from Villa Park.
Rogers bagged 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions this term.
Villa value Rogers at a minimum of £80 million, but a bidding war is likely to drive that price to around £100m. Chelsea and Manchester United are also admirers.
Preliminary talks between Arsenal and the Villa star’s representatives have already taken place and are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have been linked with summer exits, and Rogers is an upgrade on them.
The attacker can play on both wings and through the middle, and more suitors are set to watch him at the World Cup with England this summer.
Arsenal will be desperate to wrap up a deal for Rogers before the tournament, but Villa know that impressive performances in North America will increase his value.
The Gunners could do with attacking upgrades heading into next season as they look to win more silverware.
They reportedly have funds in place to make a marquee signing and beat their club-record transfer this summer.
They are ready to rival the purchase of Declan Rice for a then-British record £105m in 2023, and Rogers may be their man.
