Arsenal star Ben White will not require surgery on his injured knee, according to Sky Sports.
It was previously claimed that he is out for the season, a huge blow for manager Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners will be without White for their Premier League games against Burnley and Crystal Palace.
He is also out of the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain but could be fit to return to action before the World Cup in June.
“We’re hearing that Arsenal defender Ben White will not require surgery on his injured knee,” Sky Sports said.
“So good news for the Arsenal fans. Still a big knee injury, no time scale on his recovery, but it’s understood he’s likely to be fit for the World Cup if selected with England.
“Arsenal confirmed yesterday that he sustained a significant medial ligament injury and would miss their final two Premier League games. He’s going to miss those games, but he doesn’t need surgery.”
White will hope to return sooner rather than later to boost his chances of playing at the World Cup with the Three Lions.
Arteta will be delighted with the update, but England manager Thomas Tuchel is the biggest beneficiary of the development.
White withdrew from the England camp at the 2022 World Cup and was called up in March for the first time since then for their last two friendly games.
The Arsenal star came on in the 1-1 draw against Uruguay, scoring the opener before giving away the equalising penalty in stoppage time, and he also featured in the next game against Japan.
The 28-year-old has played in nine of the Gunners’ last ten games, starting eight of them, and Arteta has a selection headache ahead of their final three games of the season.
