Newcastle United have informed Arsenal and other suitors that it would take €90 million to sign Anthony Gordon this summer, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Gunners are known admirers of the England international, and manager Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his attack heading into next season.
Bayern Munich are already in talks with Gordon over a deal, while Liverpool and Barcelona are also interested.
The attacker has featured in recruitment planning meetings at Arsenal, but it is unclear whether a concrete move is on the cards.
The Bundesliga club are unwilling to pay up to €90m for the Newcastle star, and other clubs are unlikely to be keen on meeting their demands.
Around €75m could be enough to secure an initial deal, with add-ons included.
Gordon is expected to leave St James’ Park club for a club where regular Champions League football is guaranteed.
The ‘really strong‘ 25-year-old also wants to be competing for major silverware every season, and Arsenal could offer him that opportunity.
More suitors will likely emerge for him when the summer transfer window opens, but Newcastle may need to lower their asking price to have a chance of selling him.
People at the club are convinced Gordon wants out, despite him being under contract until 2030.
Manager Eddie Howe has the club’s backing and will remain in charge beyond this season, but major squad changes could be on the cards.
Sandro Tonali and Tino Livramento have also been linked with exits, while either Nick Woltemade or Yoane Wissa could be sold if Newcastle look to sign another striker.
