Manchester City in contact to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro

Manchester City have initiated contact to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro, according to Spanish outlet AS.

Spurs are preparing for Porro’s potential exit and will demand at least €57 million from suitors.

Former Tottenham manager Thomas Frank believed the Spaniard was an elite-level player, but they could now lose him.

Man City are looking to get a deal done before the World Cup, as incoming manager Enzo Maresca wants to assemble his squad as soon as possible.

Sporting director Hugo Viana knows Porro from their time together at Sporting CP, and will hope their relationship can help lure him away from Spurs.

The 26-year-old played 46 games for Tottenham this season and was a key player under all three managers they had this term.

Porro has played 151 games for the Lilywhites since joining in January 2023 and has been a key player.

The Spain international could be about to sign for Man City for the second time, having first done so in 2019 while at Girona.

However, he was immediately loaned to Real Valladolid before joining Sporting for a two-season loan in 2020. He made the move permanent in 2022.

Porro moved to Spurs afterwards and has proven himself in the Premier League, with Man City now big admirers as they prepare for life without Pep Guardiola.

Tottenham will not want to lose such a key player as manager Roberto De Zerbi plots a summer rebuild.
