Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has tipped England international Jarrod Bowen to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
There has been plenty of speculation about who could replace Salah at Anfield since he announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
Steven Gerrard has previously named Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise as an ideal replacement, but luring him away from them is almost impossible.
Liverpool have also been linked with a few other interesting players, such as Juventus’ Francisco Conceicao and RB Leipzig’s highly sought-after Yan Diomande.
Owen has now weighed in on the conversation, and he believes Liverpool shouldn’t look further than Bowen in their search for Salah’s long-term replacement.
The former Liverpool striker praised the West Ham United star and tipped his former employers to swoop if they are relegated.
When asked if he would like to see Bowen at Liverpool, Owen said on talkSPORT: “Jarrod Bowen is a legend of a player. West Ham adore the man, and rightly so.
“But if West Ham went down, he would fit [Liverpool] for me. I think he’s absolutely brilliant.
“He’s a real top finisher, and I think he’s a brilliant player. I don’t want to upset West Ham fans, but if they went down, then he would be my idea of somebody to replace Salah”.
Bowen has been a faithful servant to West Ham since joining from Hull City six years ago and has established himself as a fan favourite.
He has bagged 84 goals and 62 assists in 277 games for West Ham, including 10 goals and 11 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this season.
He’ll be expected to jump ship if West Ham are relegated, but there haven’t been any links to a potential summer move to Liverpool yet.
