Tottenham agree deal to sign Andrew Robertson on a free transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson on a free transfer.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with the Scotland international only a few days after avoiding relegation.

Tottenham escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Everton in their final fixture.

Spurs only needed a draw to avoid relegation from the top flight for the first time in nearly five decades, but didn’t leave anything to chance with Joao Palhinha scoring the winner.

Tottenham have quickly shifted their attention to the summer transfer market as the club prepares for a massive overhaul.

Having spent nearly a decade at Anfield, Robertson decided to call time on a trophy-laden spell with Liverpool, where he won every major trophy available.

Robertson has decided to continue in the Premier League and is one step away from joining Tottenham on a free transfer.

Juventus have already tried to hijack Tottenham’s deal with Robertson, but he wanted to continue in the Premier League.

Tottenham are also on the cusp of finalising a deal for former Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, who is available on a free transfer.

They fended off competition from Liverpool to sign the Argentine centre-back.

Barcelona were also interested in Senesi, but he has already agreed a four-year deal with Tottenham.
