Two loose cannons collide on Saturday as Khamzat Chimaev defends his middleweight title against former champion Sean Strickland at UFC 328.
The build-up to this highly anticipated showdown promises to be intense and enthralling as the former training partners square off in the main event at Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey.
However, the middleweight title is not the only belt on the line as Joshua Van defends his newly-acquired flyweight strap for the first time against Tatsuro Taira.
Elsewhere, Alexander Volkov and the promising Waldo Cortes-Costa square off for a chance to face the winner of Alex Pereira vs Ciryl Gane.
Sean Brady vs Joaquin Buckley and King Green vs Jeremy Stephens make up the rest of the main card, setting up what could potentially be one of the cards of the year.
Read on as we analyse the main talking points from a packed UFC 328 card.
Main Card: Chimaev vs Strickland brings the thrill as Van and Taira set to deliver a blockbuster

The sneering wolf Chimaev faces off against the loud-mouthed Strickland in a match-up that will need UFC security on their toes from the press conference till the fight is over.
Strickland will need to bring his grappling A-game against Chimaev, who will shoot for takedowns immediately and try to keep the fight on the ground.
On their feet, Strickland is the more polished fighter, but Chimaev’s aggression means it will be hard to keep him there.
His timing of takedowns and ability to hold opponents down are almost reminiscent of the great Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Strickland has his work cut out.
Meanwhile, two promising flyweight fighters put it all on the line when Van and Taira go head-to-head. This should be a masterclass in skilful striking.
There was a stroke of luck about the way Van clinched the title against Alexandre Pantoja, but this is his chance to prove that he is no fluke.
It is worth noting that Taira is as dangerous as they come. The Japanese mixed martial artist will take the fight to Van, bidding to claim the belt and set up a dream fight against the returning Pantoja.
Things have been drab in the heavyweight division for some time now, but exciting Dominican knockout artist Cortes-Acosta is pulling up trees.
He will test his mettle against the battle-hardened Volkov, who is eager to fight for the belt again after somehow not taking home the strap despite a seemingly convincing win over Gane in December 2024.
This one is finely poised, with the winner set to fight for the belt, or Josh Hokit, for a chance at the title.
King Green looked special in his last outing in the octagon and will look to repeat the trick when he squares off with fellow veteran Stephens. Expect fireworks!
Brady and Buckley are coming off major losses and will be desperate to put their names back in the win column.
Buckley struggled against the heavy wrestling offence of Kamaru Usman and may face the same issue against Brady, but his impeccable striking and pressure could make the difference.
The welterweight division is so exciting, and the result of this match-up will only add to the intrigue.
The timing of UFC 328 also comes at a special time for MMA fans outside the octagon, with the UFC 6 game to be released on 19 June, adding even more attention to some of the sport’s biggest names and divisions heading into the summer.
Preview: UFC 328 prelims and early prelims

The UFC 328 prelims and early prelims are packed with dangerous finishers, rising contenders and veteran names, making the undercard one of the strongest of the year.
One of the most intriguing bouts features former Bellator champion Yaroslav Amosov and Spain’s Joel Alvarez at welterweight.
Amosov has lost just once in his professional fights and impressed in his UFC debut by submitting Neil Magny.
Alvarez has become one of the UFC’s most entertaining action fighters thanks to his aggressive striking and dangerous submission game. He hopes to continue his four-fight win streak.
Stylistically, it is a classic grappler-versus-finisher match, and fans online have already labelled it a potential show-stealer.
Another pivotal clash comes at lightweight, where Grant Dawson faces the relentless Polish pressure fighter Mateusz Rebecki.
Dawson is one of the division’s best wrestlers despite suffering a brutal knockout loss to Manuel Torres late last year, while Rebecki brings explosive pace and knockout power.
Veteran fan favourite Jim Miller also returns against Jared Gordon in a battle between two experienced lightweights who rarely produce dull fights.
At featherweight, Pat Sabatini meets Chimaev’s unbeaten teammate Baisangur Susurkaev in a fascinating grappling-heavy match-up.
The middleweight division is heavily represented throughout the prelims.
Ateba Gautier, who earned a Performance of the Night bonus with a devastating first-round knockout at UFC 318, faces Ozzy Diaz, looking to continue his rapid rise.
Roman Kopylov clashes with Marco Tulio in another explosive striking match-up, while undefeated prospect Djorden Santos meets Jose Ochoa in the early prelims.
