Man United face two major obstacles in signing Tchouameni

Manchester United face two major obstacles in their bid to bring Aurelien Tchouameni to Old Trafford, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils believe Tchouameni is the ‘perfect’ replacement for Casemiro. However, securing his services is easier said than done.

Tchouameni is on massive wages that could make Man Utd baulk, especially after paying a large transfer sum.

Los Blancos are unwilling to let him join Man United. Club president Florentino Perez believes the France international will remain in Spain.

United may be forced to look elsewhere for steel in midfield, with Tchouameni slipping away.

Ederson is on the verge of joining the Red Devils, but they must add a specialist holding midfielder to balance the squad.

Man United’s midfield is crying out for legs and athleticism. The club must bring in someone who fits that profile and can anchor proceedings.

Man United should consider reviving interest in Andrey Santos

United could revisit their interest in Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos.

The Brazilian is one of the most highly rated young midfielders in Europe, yet opportunities have remained scarce.

If regular football is not forthcoming, Santos may eventually look elsewhere to accelerate his development.

He is a far smarter investment for United than some of the expensive names currently being linked with the club.

Santos possesses many of the qualities Michael Carrick’s side desperately need in the middle of the park.

He is dominant in the air, relishes the physical side of the game and is capable of producing crunching tackles that halt opposition attacks before they develop.

Beyond his defensive work, he is also an intelligent passer who can break lines and progress the ball quickly through midfield.

Santos has shown a strong mentality throughout his career, thriving under pressure and refusing to be intimidated by bigger stages.

He still has plenty of room for growth, yet already boasts attributes that would immediately improve Man United’s midfield balance.
