Newcastle United closing in on €40m deal for Victor Munoz

Newcastle United are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Osasuna winger Victor Munoz for €40 million.

According to reports from Spain, the Magpies will pay an initial €35 million plus a further €5 million in add-ons for the 22-year-old left winger, who is expected to undergo a medical in the United States.

The recruitment team at St James’ Park have prioritised signing a dynamic wide forward to replace star man Anthony Gordon, who completed a high-profile transfer to FC Barcelona after his best season under Eddie Howe.

Munoz also enjoyed a standout 2025/26 campaign with Osasuna after joining from Real Madrid’s youth academy.

The left winger registered seven goals and five assists in 36 appearances across all competitions, impressing with his blistering pace, dribbling ability, and versatility.

His rapid rise caught the eye of Spain manager Luis de la Fuente, who handed him his senior international debut in a March friendly against Serbia, where he scored, before naming him in Spain’s final squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America.

Real Madrid retained an €8 million buy-back clause when Munoz left the Bernabeu, but the Spanish giants have reportedly decided against activating it, clearing a direct path for Newcastle.

Osasuna are willing to sanction a sale this summer, recognising that selling a prospect they acquired for just €5 million for eight times that amount represents an exceptional piece of business.

The La Liga outfit are holding out for the full value of his €40 million release clause, a figure Newcastle are ready to meet, albeit with add-ons.
