Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento has suffered a hamstring injury that will force him to miss the World Cup, according to The Telegraph.
Livramento is currently with England in North America, but could be on his way back to Newcastle.
He is now set to be replaced by Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of their opening game against Croatia on Wednesday night.
Livramento’s fitness struggles are well documented, and he played only 26 games across all competitions for Newcastle last season.
The 23-year-old missed almost the whole 2022-23 season at Southampton with a serious knee injury.
He dealt with hamstring and knee problems last term, eventually starting just 19 games across all competitions.
The Magpies star returned from a hamstring injury during the season, but has suffered a recurrence and is out of the World Cup.
It is also a huge blow for Newcastle, who could do with potential suitors seeing him in action at the tournament.
Livramento has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City, but his injury has potentially put paid to a summer move.
He has two years left on his contract, but has not yet shown any willingness to sign an extension.
The defender was out for almost two months with a thigh injury at the end of last season, but was involved as a second-half substitute in the friendly game over New Zealand earlier this month.
Livramento will hope to be available before the new season starts in August, and Newcastle will hope his rehabilitation goes smoothly.
