Manchester United were Crysencio Summerville’s preferred option this summer, according to The Athletic.
However, a move to Old Trafford was contingent on them selling Marcus Rashford. His £40 million exit clause was not activated before it expired.
It left Summerville’s representatives exploring other options, and he is now set to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.
Tottenham Hotspur also expressed interest in Summerville, but he had no desire to join them out of respect for West Ham United.
Former teammate Mateus Fernandes had earlier made that short trip across London to join Spurs a couple of weeks ago.
However, Summerville always wanted to leave the Hammers amicably following their relegation to the Championship.
The huge financial offer from Al-Hilal was too lucrative for the Netherlands international to turn down.
He is expected to earn around £15m per year, with West Ham agreeing to sell him in a £65m deal. The former Leeds United star was earning less than £50,000 per week with the Hammers.
Summerville could have been a great addition to Tottenham or United, but neither club would have been able to match Al-Hilal’s offer.
