Liverpool have made an approach to bring AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche to Anfield, according to Sky Sports.
Manager Andoni Iraola has made it clear that he wants the club to make quality signings.
The Merseyside club are now targeting Akliouche but could face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Liverpool target was at the World Cup with Les Bleus but only made one appearance – a seven-minute cameo against Iraq in the group stage.
The 24-year-old bagged seven goals and 11 assists in 43 games last term.
While the Monaco star is primarily a right winger, he can also play through the middle, and his passing and dribbling could be huge assets for Liverpool.
Akliouche’s willingness to tackle and contribute defensively could explain why Iraola is keen on securing his services.
However, they have to pip PSG, who have sent a couple of bids to the principality club.
Monaco knocked back their latest bid, believed to be around £34 million, and Liverpool have to bring something juicy to the table.
The Reds have added Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet and Ifeanyi Ndukwe to their ranks this summer, and more additions are expected.
