Crystal Palace are in advanced talks to sign Zavier Gozo from Major League Soccer (MLS) club Real Salt Lake, according to The Athletic.
Negotiations are progressing smoothly, with the final fee expected to be in the region of £11.1 million.
Gozo has made it clear to Salt Lake executives that his priority is to experience European football.
The 19-year-old was courted by Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid earlier this year, but Palace have now emerged as the firm favourites to sign him.
Gozo has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past two seasons. He earned his first MLS All-Star selection earlier this summer after a standout campaign in Utah.
He is known for his explosive speed, one-on-one dribbling ability and positional versatility to play as either a winger or wing-back.
Hhis ability to cover almost the entire right flank makes him a strong tactical fit for Palace’s transitional system.
Gozo would provide valuable depth to manager Pierre Sage’s squad ahead of his first full campaign in charge.
Palace now hope to wrap up the remaining details of the deal in the coming days for their second signing of the summer after the earlier acquisition of Oscar Mingueza on a free transfer.
It is unclear if Gozo is being signed as a potential replacement for Ismaila Sarr. The Senegalese winger is currently attracting interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Palace are also working on defensive additions, with an offer for Axel Disasi expected to be submitted soon.
