Liverpool are actively working on a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s highly rated teenage winger Ibrahim Mbaye, according to RMC Sport.
The 18-year-old has given the green light to a potential move to Anfield despite interest from multiple clubs around Europe.
The Senegalese is not the only PSG player on Liverpool’s radar. They are also exploring an ambitious swoop for left-winger Bradley Barcola, although PSG’s asking price could prove too steep.
Securing both forwards would represent a significant statement of intent under new manager Andoni Iraola, whose style of play requires elite wingers.
Fierce competition for places in Paris, alongside the impending arrival of new attacking signings, has prompted Mbaye’s representatives to seek a move that would guarantee him regular first-team football.
Per transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, RB Leipzig were previously close to signing Mbaye as a replacement for Yan Diomande, who was seemingly PSG-bound before the move collapsed.
Rreaching an agreement with PSG will require Liverpool to pay a significant fee. The Ligue 1 club hold strong leverage and are reluctant to part easily with one of their top academy graduates.
PSG are seeking around €50m to consider sanctioning Mbaye’s departure. With the player’s personal approval already secured, Liverpool are expected to accelerate talks in the coming days.
