Roma considering late move for Chelsea winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens

AS Roma are weighing up a renewed move to sign Chelsea winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

They are seeking a deal for a €5 million initial loan fee, with a €55m option to buy at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old English winger is a top target to strengthen Roma’s wide attacking options. They are looking to test Chelsea’s resolve late in the transfer window.

Roma previously had a loan enquiry that Chelsea rejected, but they have maintained their interest.

They are now considering whether a larger up front commitment and a total package worth up to €60m could persuade the Blues to enter formal negotiations.

The interest from Italy represents an attractive opportunity for Bynoe-Gittens.

Competition for places has limited his opportunities, with his only appearance this season coming in the League Cup against Luton Town.

While Chelsea rate Bynoe-Gittens’ long-term potential, a substantial loan fee, combined with a non-mandatory €55m purchase option, lets them retain control of his future.

Roma’s pursuit comes as manager Gian Piero Gasperini looks to add firepower to his frontline ahead of a Champions League return.

They have started the season in superb form, scoring eight times in two league games to sit top of Serie A on goal difference.

I Giallorossi welcome Atalanta to the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, by which time they hope to have finalised another attacking signing.
