Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reached an agreement over a new long-term deal, according to the BBC.
Arteta led Arsenal to the Premier League title last term, their first since 2004, and he has now been rewarded with a contract extension.
The new deal is set to take him beyond 2029, and the Spaniard deserves more than a decade at the Emirates Stadium after turning the Gunners’ fortunes around.
His current contract runs out at the end of this season, but an official announcement to confirm his new deal is expected soon..
Arteta currently earns £10 million per season at Arsenal, plus an additional £5m in bonuses anytime the club qualify for the Champions League.
He is now set to land a lucrative new contract that will make him one of the best-paid managers in the world.
His new salary could come close to matching Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone. The Argentine is the world’s best-paid manager, earning around £26m a year.
The Gunners reached the final of last season’s Champions League after progressing to the semi-finals in 2024-25.
Paris Saint-Germain stopped them in both seasons and Arteta will be desperate to win the competition this term.
Successfully defending the Premier League title is also a target for Arsenal, and their manager wants them to become the best team in England and Europe.
