Arsenal starlet Max Dowman in line to link up with senior England squad

Thomas Tuchel is considering giving Arsenal youngster Max Dowman his first taste of training with the England squad, according to the Sun.

The Arsenal academy graduate is currently with the under-19s, but his performances for the Gunners have impressed the England manager.

The 16-year-old has made just two appearances for the club across all competitions this term.

Dowman was helpless as Arsenal lost 3-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday having spent just nine minutes on the pitch.

However, the teenage sensation was in fine form in the Gunners’ League Cup 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town last Tuesday, bagging a brace.

The Gunners star made ten appearances last term, weighing in with one goal and one assist in six Premier League games.

Tuchel considered including Dowman in his World Cup squad this summer.

While that did not happen, the Arsenal teenager is likely to receive a senior call-up in the next 12 months.

Dowman could get an opportunity to impress the German first-hand after five players withdrew from the squad.

Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Tino Livramento have all recently pulled out of the upcoming Nations League matches.

Tuchel had already decided to take a look at some of the players of the age-grade squads training at St George’s Park this week.

England’s under-21s, under-20s, under-18s and under-17s are also training at England’s headquarters this week as they prepare for their international games.

The under-19s will face Ireland in a friendly at St George’s Park on Friday. Dowman is preparing for that game, but he could get the chance to train with the senior squad.

The Three Lions take on Spain in a Nations League game at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night before facing Czechia next Tuesday.

They play Croatia on October 3 before returning to Wembley to face the Czechia three days later.
