Leeds predicted XI vs Newcastle: Unbeaten Whites lock horns with Magpies at Elland Road

Leeds United welcome Newcastle United to Elland Road on Monday for a difficult Premier League test under the lights.

They will be looking to build on their recent performances after getting their midweek League Cup duties out of the way.

Newcastle have dominated this fixture in recent years, but Leeds will believe they can finally end that run on home soil.

Match preview

Leeds have secured five from nine available points this season.

However, Newcastle have gone six league meetings unbeaten against the Whites. The latest encounter ending in particularly painful fashion for Leeds.

They led 3-2 at St James’ Park in January before Bruno Guimaraes equalised from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

Harvey Barnes completed a dramatic comeback with the 102nd-minute winner. Much has changed since then.

Guimaraes has left, while Joelinton and is sidelined with a muscle problem.

Newcastle arrive in Yorkshire after beating Millwall 1-0 in the League Cup on Tuesday. Leeds were defeated 6-3 at Chelsea.

Match stats

The Magpies have won the last two meetings between the clubs, although Leeds pushed them extremely close in January..

The in-form Leeds centre-forward converted a penalty against Nick Pope in the 4-3 defeat at St James’ Park.

Leeds team news

Joe Rodon is Leeds’ only confirmed absentee.

Noah Okafor was among the substitutes in midweek before coming on and assisting Calvert-Lewin’s goal.

Manager Daniel Farke suggested the now-former Switzerland international (26 caps) is ready to start.

Farke has plenty of options available and could largely stick with the side that has started the Premier League campaign.

Winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya, who Farke lauded for his ‘unbelievable skill and pace‘, might still not get a look in.

Leeds predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1)

Lucas Perri; Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Gabriel Gudmundsson; Anton Stach, Ethan Ampadu; Noah Okafor, Ao Tanaka, Jack Harrison; Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
