Man United eyeing Lens’ Mezian Mesloub to replace wantaway JJ Gabriel

Manchester United are preparing for the potential departure of academy prospect JJ Gabriel and are eyeing Lens’ Mezian Mesloub, according to transfer reporter Alex Crook.

The Red Devils have been caught off guard by Gabriel’s decision to leave Old Trafford. They could turn to Mesloub after scouting him extensively.

The United target has made his league and Champions League debut and caught the eye with his quick feet, dribbling and vision.

His style is eerily similar to Lamine Yamal. He is an ‘absolute joy to watch.’

Born in France, he is of Portuguese and Algerian descent. The 16-year-old is highly rated and has been called up to the Portugal Under-21 squad.

He made just one Ligue 1 appearance last term, scoring just minutes after coming off the bench, but has already featured twice this season and looks set to kick on.

United have been committed to youth development under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The Red Devils have completed the signing of highly rated teenager Isaac Konde and Chido Obi-Martin. The latter is gaining valuable experience on loan in the Eredivisie.

Sekou Kone is also developing away from Old Trafford at Lausanne-Sport, another club owned by Ratcliffe’s INEOS group.

Meanwhile, Ayden Heaven has already made the step up to first-team football, while Cristian Orozco is another exciting prospect they picked up.

The Red Devils are determined to build a pathway for young talent rather than simply relying on established stars.

Losing Gabriel is a blow, but a club of this stature should not be fretting over a teenager’s departure.

The interest in Mesloub shows Man United are already looking for the next generation of players who can make an impact.
