Three strikers who can fire Tottenham out of the relegation zone

Tottenham Hotspur are struggling to score this season despite spending over £300 million in the transfer market to bolster their squad.

Spurs only scored their first goals of the Premier League campaign on Matchday five, a game they still lost.

Tottenham are yet to register a win (D2, L3) and are currently rooted to the bottom of the league table.

Dominic Solanke has failed to make his mark for the club, while summer addition Omar Marmoush isn’t the difference-maker they need.

Here are three options Tottenham should be looking at to get them out of trouble.

Igor Matanovic

Freiburg’s Igor Matanovic has caught the eye in the opening weeks of the season, bagging six goals and three assists in six appearances across all competitions.

A ‘physically strong‘ striker, he has the physicality to thrive in the Premier League. The Croatian centre-forward could be an excellent signing for Tottenham.

Tottenham are already asking questions about him, and this interest is worth exploring further.

Matanovic is strong in the air, gets on the end of great chances, works hard off the ball and is impressively competent on it.

Esteban Lepaul

It’s almost criminal that more clubs aren’t looking at Rennes’ Esteban Lepaul, given his profile is incredibly solid and the numbers back it up.

Lepaul finished top scorer in Ligue 1 last term, delivering 21 goals in 34 appearances. He netted nine goals in 18 outings the season before.

The 26-year-old has started the current campaign in brilliant form with three goals in five games. His form has earned him a call-up to the star-studded France national team.

Lepaul is tall, strong, technically clean and could fire Spurs up the table after successive seasons of 17th-place Premier League finishes.

Franjo Ivanovic

Franjo Ivanovic took Europe by storm during his time in Belgium with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, spearheading them to the league title with 21 goals in 47 appearances.

Benfica gambled on him, but the Croatian international struggled to get a look-in under Jose Mourinho.

He has joined Lens on loan, where he has found his groove again with two goals in three League outings.

Ivanovic is still coming to terms with the new league and environment after not playing for much of last season, but he is looking lethal again.

It might be a long shot, but the 22-year-old has all the tools to be one of the top marksmen of his generation.
