Tottenham predicted XI vs Everton: De Zerbi faces selection call as Spurs chase first Premier League win

Tottenham Hotspur host Everton in the Premier League on Saturday

Spurs have collected just one point from their opening three games and are yet to score. They take on an unbeaten side eager for three points.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi must find a way to improve Tottenham in the final third and hopefully settle on a starting XI that can deliver a breakthrough.

Match preview

Brentford and Newcastle United beat Spurs before they were held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest last weekend, despite recording 59 percent possession and 11 shots.

That lack of attacking threat has become a major concern for De Zerbi, whose constant changes to the team have done little to provide stability.

The Italian has already made eight changes to his Premier League line-up this season, a sign he still hasn’t settled on a preferred line-up.

However, there is some encouragement. Tottenham have only lost once in their last 17 Premier League home games against Everton, winning 12 of those meetings.

The Toffees have also lost their last five league visits to Tottenham.

Everton arrive unbeaten after taking seven points from their opening three matches, including a dramatic 2-2 draw with Manchester United last weekend.

Match stats

Tottenham have never failed to score in their first four league matches of a season, meaning another blank would create unwanted history.

Spurs could also suffer their 50th Premier League home defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, Everton are winless in their last six Premier League away matches, although they have avoided defeat in each of their three league games this season.

Tottenham team news

James Maddison is back in contention after missing the last three matches with a shoulder problem. He brings ‘a different threat‘ and De Zerbi should start him.

Mohammed Kudus is also edging closer to a first start since returning from a hamstring injury.

The Ghanaian has made two substitute appearances and could now be handed a more prominent role.

Mykhailo Mudryk is ruled out after suffering an ankle injury. Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons remain sidelined.

Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie are also doubts, so Archie Gray and Andy Robertson could continue at full-back.

Tottenham predicted starting XI (4-3-3)

Antonin Kinsky; Archie Gray, Jan-Paul van Hecke, Micky van de Ven, Andy Robertson; Sandro Tonali, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison; Savio, Mathys Tel, Omar Marmoush.
