West Ham United want to hand Mohamadou Kante another improved contract

West Ham United plan to offer Mohamadou Kante a more lucrative deal to reflect his standing in the squad, according to The Athletic.

Kante has weighed in with three goals in eight league appearances for the club this season.

The 21-year-old midfielder joined the Hammers from Paris FC in August 2024, signing a five-year contract.

He was loaned back to Paris FC for the rest of the 2024-25 season before returning to West Ham last summer.

Kante initially featured prominently for the Hammers’ under-21s but eventually made 14 appearances across all competitions.

The Frenchman signed a new contract last October, extending his stay until 2031.

West Ham turned down several approaches for Kante this summer.

They now want to hand him a more lucrative deal, and fans will agree that he deserves it.

While he is primarily a central midfielder, the Hammers star has also featured as a left-winger and as a number ten this term.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo will hope Kante’s versatility is useful as West Ham eye an immediate return to the Premier League.

They are second in the Championship table after eight games, two points behind Swansea City.
